					Decoding organic cosmetics
As someone who is committed to using natural and organic cosmetics, I have found that shopping online is often the best way to find the products I am looking for. However, I also make sure to carefully research brands and their certifications to ensure that I am getting high quality, ethically-produced products.
Most popular organic certificates
In order to give consumers some assurance, five leading European certification bodies:
- Soil Association (UK)
 - Ecocert (France)
 - Cosmobio (France)
 - DBIH (Germany)
 - ICEA (Italy)

have combined and created the COSMOS standard.
COSMOS recognises two types of certified-organic beauty products: those with 95% or more organic ingredients, which can be called “organic” in the product name, and those with 70% to 95% organic ingredients, which cannot use the word “organic” in the name but must disclose the percentage of organic ingredients in the product description.
